A good time for everyone's favorite sandwich..
Tomato.
To make the perfect Tomato sandwich you will need
tomatoes
( hopefully from your own garden )
( hopefully from your own garden )
Bread
Dukes mayonnaise ....
Every Southerners favorite
Spread mayonnaise on bread,
Slices of tomato between.
Salt and Pepper.
Delicious!
You can add other things if you wish;
Lettuce,
Bacon,
Onion..
Vidalia, if possible.
My Favorite:
Slice of fried Bologna!!
Pinto Beans.....
Don't tell me you've never had a pinto bean and tomato sandwich!!
Of course you will probably need buns for this one.
Add all of the above, and anything else you wish.
Just make sure your tomato is sliced very thick.
No need to feel shy..everyone will love it!
I promise.
* * *
And then, there is the favorite of every Southerner.
Especially us Southern mountain people.
Take a leftover biscuit,
The big ones like Mama used to make.
(Some called them "Cat heads")
They were much bigger than the biscuits you see today.
Go out side and get a tomato, warm off the vine..
slice and put between biscuit halves.
Salt and eat!!!
Or
You can do as my friend from Church:
take your biscuit and salt,
go to the vine, pull your tomato off the vine,
and eat without slicing!!
Either way is heavenly for tomato lovers!!
NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF A SUN-RIPENED TOMATO!
Happy eating!!
Love,
Shirley
