Welcome to my small spot in the universe.
Through pictures and a few words, I hope to communicate to others the blessings we receive, even in the smallest every day things around us.

Lasting Love

Our church visits a local nursing home once a month.
Tonight I was touched in my heart by a couple  that had come out to hear the singing.
She looked like she might have had a stroke.. by the way she was sitting in her chair.
Her husband was sitting beside her,
and they were holding hands.
He said they had been married 54 years.
Sometimes, we think that there is no real love in the world today,
but this couple was still holding hands after all the years..even through
what was probably a very bad sickness.
It just touched my heart.
Real love will last.
Have a great day, and many blessings!
Love,
Shirley

  2. My parents had a beautiful love story. They were to become engaged after my father completed Basic training at Fort Dix, but WWII happened and my parents only saw each other once before dad was shipped to the Pacific where he spent the next 4 1/2 years untl the war was over. He had cabled my grandfather asking for my mother's hand on the way to California and so they became engaged as he was leaving for war. He finally came back to the states Sept 1945 and they had a beautiful wedding Oct 15, 1945. I am their only child but they had such a love. Fast forward to my parents being 81 and 80, after a fall at home, dad needed to be in a nursing home, they did not want to move to Florida to be near me and my family, Albany, NY was always home to them. So mom checked herself into the nursing home 2 weeks after dad went in. She literally walked out of her house they had spent their whole lives in and went to live with dad at the home. They were waiting for a room together and it finally came and they spent a wonderful night together in "their room", the next day dad had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital, where he died 2 days later. Mom did not need to be in a nursing home, assisted living would have suffice, but she would not leave because that room was the last "home" she and dad shared. Mom lived in that room for the next 9 years until she met dad in heaven on March 23, 2009. While my hubby and I met late in life, we are going on 18 yrs and I so understand how my mom walked away from everything "just to be with dad". Yes, real love still exists. Blessings.

  3. For Don and I both it was a second marriage, he was older than I and had health problems. We knew our time could be short, however we were blessed with 26 years,11 months of marriage. When it's love, it's forever!

  4. Thank each of you for the beautiful comments. I am sitting here with tears in my eyes as I read the stories of love in its truest sense. We are exposed to Hollywood's kind of love so often..and it is mostly just make-believe. We should see more of this kind of REAl love. Thank you again and blessings on you!
